We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Resident Field Service Technician (Heavy Diesel Mechanic) to join our dynamic John Deere Construction & Forestry and Vermeer team, servicing the Gympie region and reporting into our Brisbane branch.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Resident Field Service Technician, you will:

  • Deliver autonomous field service, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining equipment onsite with minimal supervision
  • Manage jobs end-to-end including fault finding, parts identification, repairs, and completion
  • Act as the primary point of contact for customers onsite, providing clear updates and building strong relationships
  • Plan and manage your own workload, coordinating schedules to maximise efficiency and minimise downtime
  • Complete accurate service documentation including work orders, labour, parts, and warranty details
  • Maintain a strong focus on safety and compliance, conducting risk assessments and representing RDO professionally on site

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Brings experience in heavy diesel/plant mechanics, including engine overhauls and major repairs
  • Has proven experience working in a field service or autonomous role
  • Holds a relevant trade qualification (Heavy Diesel / Mobile Plant / Diesel Mechanic etc)
  • Has strong diagnostic capability across mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
  • Communicates confidently with customers and can explain technical information clearly
  • Is organised, self-driven, and able to manage scheduling and priorities effectively
  • Has a strong commitment to safety, quality, and professional standards
  • Holds a current driver’s licence and the right to work in Australia
  • This role requires specific certifications or licences; we’ll request them later in the recruitment process.
