The Role
We’re seeking a hands-on and experienced
Production & Technical Manager – Entertainment to lead all technical and backstage operations across Crown Melbourne’s theatres and entertainment venues. Reporting to the Senior Manager – Entertainment Operations, you’ll ensure seamless delivery of productions through strong technical leadership, planning and execution.
You’re a detail-oriented leader who thrives behind the scenes, bringing productions to life through precision, coordination and technical excellence. You combine strong technical expertise with people leadership and operational discipline.
In this role, you will:
Lead all technical and backstage (BOH) operations to deliver high-quality productions and events
Manage technical planning, crewing, rostering and scheduling to ensure operational readiness
Partner with show producers, directors and internal stakeholders to coordinate production requirements
Oversee maintenance, compliance and performance of technical equipment and infrastructure
Drive safe work practices, compliance and continuous improvement across all technical operations
Lead and develop a high-performing technical workforce, fostering a strong team culture
About You
You’re a skilled technical leader with strong operational experience in live production or theatre environments. You take a proactive, solutions-focused approach and bring the ability to deliver complex productions safely and efficiently.
You will also bring
Proven leadership experience in technical theatre, entertainment or live event operations, with the ability to lead high-performing teams in fast-paced environments
Strong technical capability across staging, lighting, audio, or production services, with experience in planning, budgeting, and operational coordination
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Holds required certifications: White Card, Working at Heights and Elevated Work Platform (EWP) licence as well as proficiency in AutoCAD/CAD software (desirable)
Additional hands-on experience in Test and Tag, rigging and dogging, with forklift licence (highly-desirable)
