This position is a fixed term Part-Time (22.8hrs/week) position until 30 June 2027 that will commence as soon as practicable.
LiveBetter has an exciting opportunity for a Carer Vocational Pathways Coach to join our Carer Gateway team. As a Carer Vocational Pathways Coach, you will provide a series of coaching sessions for carers who would like to return/commence work or volunteer. This includes conducting an initial session to discuss returning / or commencing work (including Volunteering) focusing on confidence, skills identification, career exploration then exploring with the carer are they ready for work focusing on Job readiness, resumes, interviews, applications. Then post-placement support focusing on retention, wellbeing, support to access workplace adjustments.
The Vocational Coach will deliver a person-centred, strengths-based service and works with internal teams, community organisations, training providers and employers to promote sustainable pathways and positive participant outcomes.
The role will involve employer engagement in promoting and working towards the Carer Inclusive Workplace Initiative and Carers + Employer program.
In addition, the coaching may provide carers with linkages and referrals to other employment and community organisations to provide support overcoming barriers to employment.
About You
The successful candidate will possess:
- Ability to pass a National Criminal History Check
- Background in Community Services, Health, Welfare, Social Services, or Education, or a minimum of three years’ relevant industry experience.
- The ability to empower carers to understand their needs/goals and to make decisions and actions independently.
- Sound understanding of barriers to employment, education and participation and the ability to support participants to navigate these barriers.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to provide superior customer service and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Capable of facilitating service coordination, referring clients, and negotiating service delivery on behalf of carers.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a strong understanding of the community care sector and the challenges faced by carers of individuals with disabilities, chronic illness, mental health conditions, or the elderly.
- Current unrestricted Australian Drivers Licence and willingness to undertake travel in accordance with responsibilities of the role.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificates
- Desirable - "Demonstrated experience in Employment Services, Disability Employment Services (DES), or career counselling.”
