Payroll Project Specialist – 12-Month Contract

About the Role
We are delivering a significant payroll transformation across our multi-entity business, and we’re seeking a Senior Payroll Officer/Payroll SME to support the end-to-end implementation of our new payroll solution.
Working closely with our Head of Payroll, Payroll Project Implementation Lead, and cross-functional project teams, you’ll play a key role in solution design, configuration, testing, data readiness and go-live activities. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in complex payroll environments and wants to contribute to a high-impact enterprise program.
This role will be ideal for a Senior Payroll Officer with exposure to payroll transformation programs looking for their next complex challenge.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting delivery across design, build, SIT, UAT, cutover and hypercare.
- Translating awards/EBAs, tax and super rules into system configuration.
- Validating award interpretation, penalties, overtime and timesheet flow.
- Assisting with scalable multi-entity payroll processes and controls.
- Leading data cleansing, YTD reconciliation and integration readiness.
- Supporting testing cycles including award interpretation tests and parallel runs.
- Coordinating defect triage and compliance evidence, including STP Phase 2.
- Contributing to cutover planning, readiness checks and hypercare.
- Preparing BAU handover materials including run-books and SOPs.
What You Bring
- Strong experience in payroll operations and/or payroll transformation within multi-entity environments.
- Experience/exposure in helping to delivering end-to-end payroll implementations.
- Strong knowledge of Australian payroll compliance, including STP2, superannuation and payroll tax.
- Ability to interpret awards/EBAs and translate them into system configuration.
- Strong analytical skills and comfort working in complex payroll environments.
