This opportunity is within a fast-paced Digital Agency in central Melbourne that builds high-performance web applications for a premium portfolio of corporate clients. They have an autonomous, collaborative environment where smart problem-solving and proactive security are highly valued.

The Role

We are seeking a self-motivated System Administrator with 5+ years of experience (ideally within an agency or fast-moving IT environment) to take ownership of their hosting infrastructure and team support.

Reporting to the Lead Developer, the successful candidate will keep the clients' systems fast and secure while ensuring the internal team has the day-to-day tech support they need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities

• Hybrid Hosting & Environments: Manage and optimise the agency's hosting setups across a mix of Windows platforms and modern cloud providers like Azure and AWS.
• Hands-on Server Management: Maintain physical server hardware, which includes occasional site visits to local data centres for bare-metal deployments, updates, or troubleshooting.
• Virtualisation & Storage: Run and monitor virtualized server environments and storage systems using Proxmox and TrueNAS setups.
• DNS & Traffic Ownership: Act as the primary point of contact for managing client DNS update requests, domain routing, and general hosting configurations.
• Internal Team Support: Provide day-to-day IT asset support for the internal staff, including setting up, maintaining, and fixing apps/hardware across both Windows and Mac laptops/PCs.
• Security & Continuity: Maintain a strong security mindset by keeping up with vulnerability updates, managing monthly server patching, and regularly testing system backups.
• Collaboration & Autonomy: Work independently to manage your own workload and time tracking, while using your great communication skills to troubleshoot issues and scope new projects.

About You

• 5+ Years of Experience: Proven experience across diverse IT environments; digital agency or multi-client managed services (MSP) experience is a plus.
• The Tech Stack: Strong experience with Windows hosting, Azure or AWS, MS365, and virtualisation tools like Proxmox and TrueNAS.
• Core Strengths: Deep understanding of DNS management, domain configurations, and general networking.
• Mindset & Working Style: A natural problem solver who loves working independently and possesses excellent communication skills
• On-Prem Willingness: Comfortable traveling to local data centres when hands-on physical hardware work is required.
