About the role
Join the High Capacity Signalling project and help deliver the communication systems for the next-generation infrastructure for the Public Transport Authority. In this role, you’ll support the design, review, and integration of systems such as fibre optics, radio, and IP networks, ensuring solutions are safe, reliable, and compliant with industry standards. You’ll also contribute to testing, commissioning, and system integration across Signalling systems, SCADA, and passenger information systems.
Working closely with stakeholders, you’ll provide technical guidance, assist with the standards and documentation, and support project delivery from planning through to completion. This role offers the chance to combine hands-on engineering with project involvement, helping deliver critical transport solutions on time, within budget, and in line with strict safety requirements.
About You!
To excel in this role, you should possess:
- Possession of relevant Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification eligible for membership with Engineers Australia, with proven experience in communications systems design, integration, and fault finding within the railway environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of IP networking, radio frequency systems, fibre technology, and safety-critical communications systems.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams with minimal supervision, contributing to collaborative project delivery.
- Well-developed communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to produce clear documentation and deliver innovative engineering solutions.

There is currently one fixed term opportunity for five years available for an immediate start with the possibility of renewal and/or permanency. Applicants assessed as suitable through this process will be placed in a pool and may also be considered for similar vacancies that may arise within the next 12 months.
