You'll play a key role in supporting team members through injury, illness and recovery, while partnering with leaders to deliver safe, sustainable return to work outcomes and drive wellbeing initiatives across the business.

As a Rehabilitation and Return to Work Specialist, you'll support the organisation to proactively manage workplace injury and illness, reduce risk, and help team members safely return to meaningful work.

You'll partner closely with People Leaders, People Business Partners and the broader Employee Relations and Safety team to manage workers' compensation and long-term absence cases, while delivering tailored return to work programs aligned to medical advice and operational needs. You'll also play a key role in promoting early intervention, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and contributing to a strong culture of safety and wellbeing.

This role is a permanent opportunity and is based in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne.

Responsibilities

Day to day, you'll:

  • Manage workers' compensation claims and coordinate return to work outcomes.
  • Partner with leaders and treating providers to support recovery and rehabilitation.
  • Develop and implement tailored return to work plans aligned to medical and business needs.
  • Support management of long-term absences, including complex case scenarios.
  • Coach and educate People Leaders on injury management and early intervention strategies.
  • Identify trends and contribute to preventative health and safety initiatives.
  • Collaborate across People and Culture teams to improve processes and frameworks.
  • Engage with external providers such as insurers, IMEs and rehab specialists.

Qualifications

It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:

  • You have strong knowledge of workers' compensation, employment and WHS legislation across Australia.
  • Your experience includes managing workplace injury, illness and return to work cases.
  • You'll hold (or be working towards) a Return to Work Coordinator qualification.
  • You're confident handling sensitive situations and complex conversations respectfully.
  • You bring strong organisational skills and can manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Your attention to detail ensures accuracy in case management and reporting.
  • You're comfortable using Microsoft Office and HR or case management systems.
  • You have experience working with stakeholders across HR, safety or insurance environments.
