The Opportunity

Reporting to the General Manager – Port and Logistics, this role is responsible for overseeing the haulage operations, including the management of haulage assets, Port Hedland vessel activities, and Haulage Supervisors. The position ensures all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with cost, schedule, quality, and performance targets across MRT sites.

Supporting operations at both Utah Point and Eastern Arm for iron ore and spodumene exports, the role serves as the key liaison between contractors, the Port Authority, MinRes operational teams, and senior leadership. The position is accountable for ensuring haulage and port commitments are met through effective planning, stakeholder engagement, and budget management, while maintaining high levels of accountability, productivity, and incident reporting.

This is a 5/2 4/3 roster from Perth or 5/2 residential position in Port Hedland.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring all haulage and vessel forecasts are met to business market forecasts for both iron ore and spodumene.
  • Competent knowledge of the road haulage business and haulage plans are met and directing your Haulage Supervisors accordingly.
  • Ensuring haulage forecasts align with cargo ready commitments, that Port and shipping stakeholders are collaborated with on any changes or operations impacts.
  • Provide clear and meaningful direction to the TOP Line run operators, your direct reports, and recommendations to the GM Ports and Logistics.
  • Conduct a detailed review of port and haulage performance via weekly and monthly reviews.
  • Maintain quality reporting is achieved as directed with a high level of accuracy.
  • Ensure delegated authority when not available or on annual or unplanned leave.
  • Accountable for all INX events being reported and closed out in a timely fashion.
  • Preparation of a weekly report for senior management to review.

What is Required?

  • Extensive experience in port, logistics, haulage, mining, or bulk commodities operations.
  • Proven leadership capability managing supervisors, contractors, and operational teams.
  • Strong understanding of port operations, vessel scheduling, and export logistics.
  • Experience managing operational performance, budgets, and contractor relationships.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety leadership, incident management, and risk control.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, planning, and problem-solving skills.
