Join Lochard Energy at a pivotal time of growth as we commence work on the initial phase of a large-scale Gas-Powered Generation (GPG) project in Victoria. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in developing a major energy infrastructure project, working across the project team to support the development of the project from concept through to execution.
About The Role
As Project Engineer, you will support the Project Development Manager and other team leads to shape and develop the project in accordance with Lochard’s gated delivery model through the development phases, to Final Investment Decision (FID) and into execution.
This role is central to enabling disciplined project delivery. You will coordinate actions and facilitate activities across engineering, approvals, finance, and project control workstreams. You will also support core project management processes including risk and issue management, change management and project reporting, and contribute to the development of key project plans.
Skills
You are a proactive and disciplined project engineer with strong communication skills that thrives in complex project environments. Collaboration and teamwork are central to how you work, and you have a keen interest in developing and delivering projects. Key experience and attributes include:
- 5–10 years’ experience in project engineering or project delivery within energy, infrastructure or process industries
- Strong understanding of major project development and gated delivery frameworks
- Experience managing risk, project change, interfaces and project governance processes
- Ability to coordinate across technical, commercial, legal, approvals and stakeholder functions
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- High attention to detail with well-developed analytical and problem-solving capability
- Proficiency in project systems and tools, with strong MS Office skills and exposure to Power BI highly regarded
- Degree in Engineering (process, electrical or mechanical or similar)
Job responsibilities
- Support coordination of project activities across engineering, approvals, finance, legal and construction workstreams
- Maintain and manage core project registers, including risk, technical queries and decision records
- Support the development and implementation of key project plans, including the Project Execution Plan, Risk Management Plan and Interface Plan
- Maintain the Project Risk Register as a living document, including tracking agreed actions to close out and escalating where necessary within the project organisation
- Support the Project Delivery Manager and Project Controls Team with change management including documenting and assessing the impact of project change
- Contribute to project reporting, governance activities and assurance reviews
- Support in the provision of technical information for project financing activities
- Assist in the preparation for stage gate reviews and major investment decisions
- Support stakeholder engagement activities, including regulators, community and First Nations stakeholders
- Review technical and consultant documentation to ensure quality and alignment with project requirements
