Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.
Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the `Courts Group'.

ChCV
The Children's Court of Victoria (ChCV) is a specialist court that hears and determines cases in two divisions. The Family Division hears and determines cases involving the care and protection of Victorian children who are at risk of harm. The Criminal Division hears and determines the criminal charges brought against children between the ages of 10-17 years.
As a specialist and dedicated court, we are able to focus solely on responding to the particular needs and interests of children, young people and their families. This focus guides our approach to the delivery of judicial, dispute resolution, registry and support services, as well as the physical environment of our courts.
The ChCV expertly and fairly applies the law in cases involving children and young people. We work closely with youth justice, legal services, child protection and other community-based services to provide a multi-disciplinary court response to address the best interest of children in need of protection, whilst promoting the accountability and rehabilitation of young offenders and in doing so, improving community safety.
About the Role
The Family Violence Support Coordinator (FVSC) plays an important role in supporting the Children's Court of Victoria's (ChCV) response to family violence, providing specialist, trauma-informed support to children, young people, and families involved in intervention order, child protection, and criminal proceedings.
This role will work with individuals who are both affected by and using family violence. Duties include:
- providing trauma-informed, child-centred support and practical, non-legal information to court users
- assisting individuals to navigate court processes and engage safely in proceedings
- undertaking risk assessments and assisting with safety planning
- maintaining and applying a comporehensive knowledge of family violence
- working collaboratively with registry staff and stakeholders to support the management of family violence matters, including contributing to risk identification
- facilitating timely referrals to legal and non-legal services to support individuals through the court process
This position is fixed term for 12 months
About You
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience within the family violence service system, including risk assessments and delivering crisis response. You will also have sound expertise in working with children and young people and a strong capability to support client accountability and behaviour change. You will also have proven:
- knowledge of relevant frameworks and legislation including the Family Violence Protection Act 2008, MARAM and the Family Violence and Child Information Schemes
- understanding of intersectionality and the diverse needs of clients and stakeholders, including those with co-occuring mental health or alcohol and other drug issues
- communication skills with the ability to use various communication media to convey information to others maximising understanding of key messages
- ability to work collaboratively with others, building trust and rapport
- self-awareness to understand how emotional responses can be expressed in work situations and the impact on self or others
- commitment to service excellence
Qualifications
A relevant qualification in family violence, social work, psychology, social sciences, or other related field is preferred
