What you'll be doing

Practicing and promoting safe, efficient and effective nursing care that reflects current standards of nursing practices and current Mid North Coast Local Health District policies and procedures.

The Registered Nurse will assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in collaboration with individuals and the multidisciplinary healthcare team. Provide care utilising culturally safe, trauma-informed and person-centred principles for patients within the Drug and Alcohol Inpatient Withdrawal Unit.

About You

You present as a clinician who brings both professional credibility and a deeply human approach to care. You maintain current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, grounding your practice in contemporary standards and ethical obligations. In your clinical work, you draw on experience across acute care, emergency, and drug and alcohol settings, allowing you to respond confidently to patients with complex and often unpredictable needs. You approach individuals with substance use issues through a non‑judgemental, trauma‑informed and culturally safe lens, recognising the importance of dignity, autonomy and trust in every interaction.

You understand the clinical and psychosocial dimensions of substance use disorders, including the management of withdrawal states, and you apply this knowledge with calm, structured decision‑making. Your practice reflects strong problem‑solving skills and a commitment to multidisciplinary collaboration, ensuring that patient care is coordinated, purposeful and outcome‑focused. You communicate clearly and professionally, using information technology, written documentation and interpersonal communication to support safe, effective care delivery.

You plan and coordinate care in a way that respects the expertise of the broader team while advocating for the needs of each patient. Your experience extends into the community setting, where you recognise the complexities faced by clients with multifaceted health and social challenges. You navigate these situations with empathy, clinical insight and a steady commitment to improving health outcomes, making you a dependable and thoughtful practitioner in any care environment.
