About the role

We are looking for an individual who wants to take their skills to the next level in this permanent full-time opportunity. If you are passionate about promoting the visibility and awareness of, and responsibility and accountability for compliance within HIF, then read on.

Join our Risk and Compliance (RC) team as a Compliance Consultant supporting the Compliance Manager, where you’ll play a key role in driving HIF’s strategic and other business objectives by supporting effective compliance management through the maintenance and continuous improvement of HIF's Compliance Management Policy (CMP), a critical component of HIF’s Risk Management Framework (RMF).

The role centres around delivering the following

  • Assist with the effective implementation of HIF’s CMP across the organisation and assist with the development and implementation of relevant policies, procedures and tools to facilitate effective compliance and obligation management.
  • Review operational business processes to identify potential compliance risks or inefficiencies in controls and suggest suitable process improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor, manage and report on compliance risks, including actions taken, where material control deficiencies or breakdowns have been identified.
  • Effectively assess, classify and manage reported incidents and breaches.
  • Regularly monitor and report on amendments to regulatory and compliance obligations, and any emerging issues and trends.
  • Ensure all applicable obligations are integrated into the business to meet all regulatory, legislative and business requirements.
  • Create, maintain, schedule and deliver compliance management training and awareness initiatives.
  • Assist with conducting second line reviews of amendments to member content, e.g. marketing materials, communications and knowledge base articles, providing feedback and advice to relevant stakeholders.

What we're looking for in you

These are some essential things we will look for:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders across all levels of the business.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Solid understanding of compliance management standards, frameworks, tools and best practices.
  • Proven ability to interpret and apply legislation, regulations and industry codes.
  • Familiarity with the Australian Standard for Compliance Management Systems (AS ISO 37301:2021).
  • Knowledge of private health insurance compliance and regulatory requirements, or experience in the financial services sector, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and continuously improving compliance management frameworks.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a compliance related role.
