The Role

As a Service Reliability Specialist, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, resilience and recoverability of critical technology services across Yarra Valley Water. You will lead and coordinate disaster recovery management activities, while supporting incident and problem management processes, to minimise service disruption, strengthen operational stability, and enhance Yarra Valley Water's ability to respond to and recover from service outages.

Working closely with IT teams, service owners, vendors and business stakeholders, you will drive continual service improvement initiatives, identify opportunities to improve service performance and resilience and support disaster recovery preparedness. Through proactive analysis, collaboration and governance, you will help strengthen the reliability, resilience and recovery readiness of technology services that support business continuity and operational excellence.

Occasional out-of-hours participation may be required to provide backup support for major incident management activities and ensure continuity of critical service response capabilities.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate disaster recovery planning, testing and readiness activities to strengthen recovery capability across critical technology service
  • Collaborate with IT teams, service owners and vendors to identify recovery risks, validate DR plans, support remediation actions and drive ongoing improvements to service resilience
  • Analyse disaster recovery readiness, testing outcomes, current service performance, incident trends and operational risks to identify gaps and define mitigation actions that enhance operational resilience
  • Produce operational and disaster recovery reporting and metrics, support governance and compliance activities and contribute toto continual improvement initiatives that strengthen recovery readiness and service resilience.
  • Assist with coordinating major incidents to minimise business disruption, restore services quickly and ensure effective stakeholder communication
  • Assist with post-incident reviews and problem management activities to identify root causes, drive corrective actions and improve service reliability
  • Support and continuously improve Disaster Recovery processes, ensuring alignment with the Incident and problem management processes and with Yarra Valley Water's standards and best practices

What we're Looking for

  • Demonstrated experience and certifications in Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity and Operational Resilience
  • Experience developing, maintaining and testing disaster recovery plans and recovery procedures
  • Understanding of IT infrastructure, cloud services, networking, backup and recovery technologies
  • Experience in IT Service Management, with strong knowledge of Incident, Problem and Major Incident Management practices
  • Experience using ServiceNow or similar service management platforms
  • Strong analytics, problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills
  • Ability to remain calm and make effective decisions in high-pressure situations
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology or related discipline
  • ITIL certification required
