The Role

WME Group seeks a talented and highly motivated lawyer to join the team in it’s Sydney office as Associate Counsel, Legal & Business Affairs, supporting WME Fashion globally (which includes IMG Models, Art Commerce and The Wall Group) and IMG Talent locally .

The successful candidate will join a collaborative and results-driven in-house team, working across a broad range of stakeholders, including high-profile talent, models, athletes and media personalities. This is a high-performing, close-knit practice that supports a large cohort of client managers operating within demanding timeframes.

This opportunity is ideally suited to a candidate who is admitted to practice in Australia with 0-2 years experience, who is seeking to develop more significant experience in drafting and reviewing commercial agreements. The role also offers exposure to a diverse range of stakeholders across the entertainment and fashion industries, both domestically and internationally.

Key Responsibilities

  • High-volume drafting, reviewing, and negotiating of agreements (including talent representation, endorsements, commercial deals, and image-rights contracts), and stakeholder management throughout the full agreement lifecycle.
  • Providing clear, actionable guidance on legal and regulatory matters (e.g. entertainment and media law, union compliance, working with children), and ensuring compliance with policies and processes.
  • Work closely with internal teams, and external parties while managing an independent workload and building strong internal client relationships.
  • Overseeing contract administration systems, document management, e-signatures, and improving internal legal processes.
  • Assisting with disputes, corporate governance, legal research, and training initiatives across the business.

Key Skills And Requirements

  • Legal background & qualifications: 0–2 years’ experience; law degree and admission as a lawyer in an Australian jurisdiction.
  • Core legal skills: Strong drafting, reviewing, and negotiating of agreements; solid analytical and organisational abilities.
  • Work style & productivity: Ability to prioritise, multitask, meet deadlines, and maintain high-quality, detail-oriented work under pressure.
  • Communication & interpersonal skills: Excellent written and verbal communication; able to explain complex legal concepts clearly to non-legal audiences; strong stakeholder engagement.
  • Team & personal attributes: Collaborative team player who can also work autonomously; proactive, self-motivated, adaptable, and solutions-focused with a positive attitude.
  • Technical & industry knowledge: Good IT skills; interest in the fashion industry, with familiarity with relevant regulations (e.g. Entertainment Industry Act, Australian Consumer Law, AANA Code of Ethics) desirable.
