About The Role
We’re looking for a CloudOps Team Lead to join Quartex and lead the day-to-day delivery, reliability and continuous improvement of our cloud operations function.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You’ll coordinate the CloudOps team, guide technical delivery, improve operational maturity and help ensure our cloud platforms are secure, reliable, scalable and cost-effective.
You’ll work closely with the Head of Platform and Security Operations, as well as teams across Technology, Product, Engineering, Security, Architecture and Customer Experience. You’ll balance operational support, project delivery, incident response, technical debt reduction and continuous improvement.
You’ll also help evolve cloud governance, automation, observability, FinOps and operational best practice as Quartex continues to scale.
What You’ll Do
- You’ll lead, coach and support the CloudOps team, helping people prioritise work, remove blockers and deliver against organisational priorities.
- You’ll ensure incidents and service requests are managed effectively, while identifying opportunities for automation, optimisation and improvement.
- You’ll provide technical leadership across cloud infrastructure, platform services and operational practices.
- You’ll help design, deploy and optimise secure, highly available cloud environments across AWS and Azure.
- You’ll manage and improve Windows-based infrastructure, including Windows Server, Active Directory and related cloud-hosted services.
- You’ll own and improve high availability, disaster recovery, backup and recovery practices.
- You’ll support and improve CI/CD platforms and deployment processes, ensuring they align with security, compliance and operational requirements.
- You’ll build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Sceptre, AWS CDK, PowerShell and Python.
- You’ll improve monitoring, observability and alerting using tools such as Datadog and AWS CloudWatch.
- You’ll help implement operational guardrails across security, compliance, governance and cost efficiency.
- You’ll contribute to cloud cost monitoring, reporting, forecasting and optimisation as part of our FinOps practices.
- You’ll lead and improve incident response processes, including on-call rotations, incident coordination, post-incident reviews, root cause analysis and follow-up actions.
- You’ll work with Architecture and Engineering teams to ensure infrastructure and platform changes are reviewed, governed and aligned with organisational standards.
- You’ll engage with vendors including AWS, Microsoft and other platform providers to support optimisation and best practice.
Who We’re Looking For
- You’ve worked in CloudOps, DevOps, Infrastructure Engineering or Site Reliability Engineering and have strong practical experience across AWS and Azure.
- You’ve led, mentored or coordinated technical teams before. You do not need to be a people manager by title, but you should be comfortable helping a team prioritise, deliver, communicate and improve.
- You’re technically strong, but pragmatic. You can operate hands-on when needed, guide others through complex problems, and know when to escalate or involve the right people.
- You understand what it means to support production systems. You can talk about incidents you’ve helped manage, reliability improvements you’ve driven, and operational decisions you would approach differently now.
- You’re comfortable balancing competing priorities: incidents, service requests, project work, technical debt, platform improvements and stakeholder expectations.
- You have strong experience with Windows Server environments, including troubleshooting, patching and automation.
- You understand cloud governance, security and operational guardrails, including IAM, encryption, vulnerability management, monitoring, compliance and cost control.
- You can build credibility with technical and non-technical stakeholders, communicate clearly, and keep people aligned on priorities, risks and progress.
- You’re proactive. You do not wait for someone else to spot the risks, define the improvement plan or chase the follow-up actions.
About You
- You are calm under pressure, organised and technically credible.
- You care about building cloud platforms that are reliable, secure, cost-effective and supportable in production.
- You can lead without needing every answer yourself. You know how to coach others, coordinate work, ask good questions and bring structure to complex operational environments.
- You’re comfortable operating independently, communicating clearly, and driving improvement across people, process and technology.
- You want to help shape a CloudOps function that does more than respond to problems — one that actively improves how Quartex builds, runs and scales its platforms.
Operational excellence at Quartex
CloudOps at Quartex is not just about keeping the lights on.
We want a team that improves how our platforms operate over time: better reliability, stronger observability, clearer ownership, safer deployments, better automation and more cost-effective infrastructure.
You’ll help mature our incident response, post-incident review, monitoring, alerting, service level objectives, operational reporting and cloud governance practices.
You’ll also help ensure acquired or newly integrated environments are brought into our operating model safely, with appropriate monitoring, security controls, governance and support processes in place.
Nice to have
- AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect or similar certifications.
- Experience participating in a Cloud Centre of Excellence or similar cloud governance forum.
- Experience with SOC 2, ISO 27001 or similar compliance frameworks.
- Experience with cloud migration, environment integration or platform consolidation.
- Experience managing Linux systems in cloud environments.
- Experience contributing to FinOps practices and cloud cost optimisation.
What To Expect
Day to day, this is a mix of team coordination, technical leadership and hands-on operational delivery.
You’ll work across live production environments, infrastructure improvement initiatives, stakeholder requests, governance activities and incident follow-up work.
We’re looking for someone who can bring structure without creating unnecessary process. You’ll need to balance urgency with discipline, and delivery with operational resilience.
This role suits someone who likes variety, ownership and accountability. If you prefer a narrow technical remit with limited stakeholder contact, this probably will not be the right fit.
Why you’ll love working here
At Quartex, we know even minor issues can lead to major problems in the industries we serve. That’s why we’re focused on helping our customers get better insights, take smarter actions and see stronger results.
You’ll Join a Team That
- Focuses on the customer, tailoring solutions for real impact.
- Builds platforms and systems that are useful, usable, practical and reliable.
- Collaborates to innovate, working across Technology, Product, Engineering, Security and Customer Experience.
- Stays grounded, with a deep understanding of the sectors we serve.
- Takes operational reliability, security and continuous improvement seriously.
