  • Salary in line with Maternal and Child Health experience, commencing at $63.50 per hour plus 12% superannuation (commensurate with skills and experience)

The Opportunity

Are you a strategic and experienced clinical leader ready to make a meaningful impact? Council is looking for a dynamic Clinical Nurse Governance Lead to provide senior clinical oversight across Maternal and Child Health (MCH) and Immunisation services, helping to ensure safe, high-quality and contemporary care for our community.

In this influential role, you will work closely with MCH and Immunisation leadership to drive a strong culture of clinical governance and continuous improvement. You will lead key activities such as clinical audits, incident and complaint review, root cause analysis, and the implementation of improvement initiatives that strengthen service quality and outcomes.

You will also play a pivotal role in building workforce capability by leading clinical education, professional development, mentoring and reflective practice. With a strong focus on supporting competence, scope of practice and mandatory training compliance, you will help shape a confident, capable and future-ready clinical workforce.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical oversight of governance systems across MCH and Immunisation services.
  • Lead clinical audits, incident review, root cause analysis and follow-up actions.
  • Ensure clinical practice is safe, evidence-based and compliant with all requirements.
  • Develop and maintain clinical policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Identify clinical and operational risks using data and provide advice to management.
  • Lead clinical education, mentoring and workforce capability development.
  • Support competency, scope of practice and mandatory training compliance.
  • Contribute to service improvement, planning and redesign initiatives.

Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will be a Registered Nurse with substantial experience in Maternal and Child Health, Immunisation, community health or a related clinical environment, with strong expertise in clinical governance, quality and safety. You will bring demonstrated experience in clinical leadership, risk management, education and workforce development, along with the ability to analyse data, influence practice and drive service improvement. Strong communication, collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills are essential.
