Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced ICT Service Desk Technician, to join the Information Technology team.

Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.

Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals Centres and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.

About the Role

We are looking for a customer-focused, Level 1, service desk technician to provide fast response and friendly ICT technical assistance for Northern Health staff.

You should have very good knowledge of information technology and be able to communicate effectively to understand the problem and explain its solution.

You must be customer-oriented and have the patience to deal with challenging customers as this role requires assisting pressured front-line health service staff to perform their patient care duties.

This role will require you to serve as the first point of contact for staff seeking ICT assistance via the telephone, self-service or directly in person.

You will be required to answer ServiceHUB calls within a defined SLA, record and resolve issues or escalate to Level 2 as required.

You will also be required to provide first and second-level support for ICT requests, incidents and major outages, install new services, perform system administration tasks, work on small projects and liaise with internal customers to determine their needs and ensure these needs are being met.

The IT Service Desk role is based at the Northern Health campus at Epping but may require travel and placements at other campuses as part of a roster or as requested.

Participate in after-hours On-call as per the On-call roster, 6 PM to 7 AM.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Excellent customer focus and keen attention to detail over the phone and in person.
  • Understanding of Active Directory and Exchange administration, computer hardware, Microsoft operating systems and Microsoft Office applications,
  • Experience in providing support related to Azure and O365 Environment.
  • Excellent communication skills (including the ability to explain technical concepts to nontechnical users), ability to deal effectively and develop personal credibility with senior management, clinicians, and other IT customers,
  • Ability to work as part of a team and when required autonomously,
  • Ability to empathise with the customer
  • Good personal organisation, time management skills and motivation to continually improve.
  • Sound problem-solving skills,
  • Valid Victorian Motor Car Driver's Licence,
  • Australian Citizen/Permanent Resident
