About The Role
Business Review Group (BRG) is seeking an experienced cost, commercial or project controls professional to support the delivery of a major Defence acquisition program.
Working within a high-performing Business Program Team, you will contribute to cost assurance, financial analysis, contract administration and procurement support activities across one of Australia's most strategically significant capability programs.
The team is responsible for forecasting, cost analysis, procurement and contract management activities supporting a complex, multi-billion-dollar acquisition environment. This role will assist in the development of cost management frameworks, supplier cost assurance processes and financial governance arrangements while working closely with Defence stakeholders, industry partners and senior program leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, analyse and investigate supplier cost data to validate the integrity, accuracy and legitimacy of invoiced amounts and financial claims.
- Support the development and implementation of program cost frameworks, methodologies and assurance processes.
- Assist in establishing cost review systems and procedures supporting the Australian Shipbuilder Program.
- Collaborate with stakeholders in the development, review and ongoing management of program cost estimates.
- Support contract administration activities including contract updates, tasking statements and procurement documentation.
- Identify and assess project, commercial and business cost risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Manage invoice verification and purchase order processes, ensuring compliance and appropriate approvals.
- Collect, analyse and report supplier accrual data and significant payment information.
- Provide advice and guidance to stakeholders on commercial, procurement and financial administration matters.
- Develop and maintain business management plans, procedures, work instructions and supporting governance documentation.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with Defence, government and industry stakeholders.
Desired Skills And Experience
- Demonstrated experience in cost analysis, cost assurance, cost estimation or financial investigation within complex project environments.
- Experience supporting commercial management, contract administration, procurement or supplier assurance activities.
- Ability to assess, validate and challenge supplier cost submissions, invoices and financial claims.
- Experience developing or supporting cost management, financial governance or business management frameworks.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Experience supporting major Defence, infrastructure, engineering, shipbuilding or acquisition programs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with exceptional attention to detail.
Highly Regarded
- Experience within Defence, ASA, CASG or other Commonwealth environments.
- Experience working within shipbuilding, maritime, infrastructure or major capital projects.
- Background in Quantity Surveying, Cost Engineering, Commercial Management, Finance or Project Controls.
- Experience supporting large-scale acquisition, sustainment or infrastructure delivery programs.
- Knowledge of Commonwealth procurement, contract management and financial governance frameworks.
