Lead a High-Performing Port & Container Transport Operation An established transport and logistics business is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee its container transport division servicing the Port of Fremantle and the wider Perth metropolitan area.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone stepping up who understands the complexities of wharf operations, container logistics and fleet management. You'll be responsible for ensuring trucks, drivers and operational resources are utilised efficiently while maintaining exceptional customer service and operational performance.

The Role Reporting to senior leadership, you will take ownership of the day-to-day operations of a busy container transport business, leading drivers and coordinating movements between port terminals, customer sites and warehousing facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily transport operations across a busy container fleet.
• Oversee scheduling, allocation and utilisation of drivers and vehicles.
• Coordinate import and export container movements to and from wharf terminals.
• Work closely with port operators, customers, warehouse teams and drivers to ensure seamless freight movements.
• Monitor fleet performance, on-time delivery and operational KPIs.
• Resolve operational issues quickly while maintaining high service levels.
• Ensure compliance with transport legislation, fatigue management and safety requirements.
• Support driver recruitment, onboarding and ongoing performance management.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity and customer outcomes.
• Lead by example, fostering a positive safety and performance culture across the operation.

About You You will have proven experience managing transport operations within a container, wharf or port logistics environment and possess the ability to make sound operational decisions under pressure.

Ideally You Will Have

• Experience within container transport, port or wharf logistics operations.
• Strong understanding of fleet scheduling, dispatch and resource planning.
• Proven leadership experience managing drivers and operational teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to balance customer requirements with operational efficiency.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
• Knowledge of transport compliance, fatigue management and safety obligations.
• Experience working within a high-volume logistics environment where service delivery is critical.
