Management Accountant

Public Transport Authority

About the role

Join the Public Transport Authority (PTA) as a Management Accountant and help shape smarter financial decisions across key divisions. In this role, you’ll take the lead on budgets, reporting, and financial analysis—turning data into clear, actionable insights. From monitoring performance and preparing monthly reports to supporting business reviews and improving cost allocation, your work will directly support operational success and strategic planning.

You’ll be a trusted partner to stakeholders, attending divisional meetings, contributing to business planning, and translating financial information into meaningful advice for both finance and non-finance teams. You’ll also play a part in corporate accounting activities, including reconciliations, annual reporting, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards—making a real impact across the organisation.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified accounting professional with strong experience in management accounting within an accrual environment. You’ll have excellent Excel and systems skills, a sharp analytical mindset, and the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships. Organised and proactive, you’ll work well both independently and as part of a team, with a genuine interest in contributing to a purpose-driven organisation.

About You!

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or Business.
  • Considerable management accounting experience (including budgeting) in an accrual-based environment, including well developed use of corporate accounting systems and Excel spreadsheets.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to provide appropriate advice to both finance and non-finance stakeholders, build rapport with internal and external stakeholders on a range of accounting and finance issues, and work effectively both collaboratively in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Well developed analytical skills, including a proven ability to resolve management accounting issues within time, financial and corporate constraints.
