Senior Cultural Heritage Advisor

Our client a Tier 1 Energy Operator in Perth CBD is currently seeking a Senior Cultural Heritage Advisor for a 2-year contract.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- This role plays a key part in delivering cultural heritage outcomes for a Decommissioning Project—one of the most significant and complex onshore oil and gas decommissioning programs currently underway in Australia.
- This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a long-term, multi-disciplinary project where cultural heritage considerations are embedded alongside environmental management, regulatory approvals, and operational delivery challenges in a class A nature reserve.
- Working closely with Traditional Owner groups, project teams, and key stakeholders, the role focuses on coordinating heritage management activities, supporting approvals and compliance requirements, and ensuring culturally respectful outcomes are achieved across the project lifecycle.
Heritage Survey Planning & Delivery
- Plan, scope, and coordinate cultural heritage survey delivery
- Support scheduling, logistics, and tracking of survey field programs with Traditional Owner participation
- Review and contribute to heritage survey data and report reviews and associated documentation
- Manage and maintain spatial and heritage data systems (e.g. ArcGIS)
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain positive relationships and capacity building with Traditional Owner groups and their representatives
- Support co-design of Cultural Heritage Management Plans and coordination of Traditional Owner participation in surveys and heritage activities
- Engage with internal teams and external stakeholders to support project delivery
- Contribute to culturally respectful and transparent engagement practices
Project Support & Integration
- Undertake heritage assessment for land disturbance activities and provide advice on heritage requirements during project planning and execution
- Work closely with project and operational teams to integrate heritage considerations into activities
- Assist in identifying and managing heritage-related risks and constraints
- Support coordination between heritage, environment, project and operations teams
Approvals & Compliance
- Support compliance with relevant WA and Commonwealth heritage legislation and agreements
- Assist in preparing heritage inputs to project approvals and regulatory documentation
- Contribute to implementation of Cultural Heritage Management Plans and procedures
- Monitor and track heritage-related commitments associated with approvals and activities
Systems & Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to the delivery and ongoing improvement of cultural heritage processes and management systems
- Support development of tools, templates, guidance and training materials
- Assist in maintaining accurate records and reporting on heritage activities
- Promote consistent and efficient ways of working across teams
Key Skills and Experience Required
- Collaborative and adaptable heritage professional who brings strong organisational, practical approach to problem solving and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated experience in cultural heritage management within the mining, energy, or infrastructure sectors at senior adviser level
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including cross-cultural awareness
- Experience coordinating cultural heritage surveys and working closely with Traditional Owner groups
- Working knowledge of WA and Commonwealth cultural heritage legislation and approvals processes
- Proven ability to project manage complex scopes, manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes in dynamic project and operational environments
- Experience with GIS and heritage data management systems
- Tertiary qualifications in Archaeology, Anthropology, Environmental, Planning, Land Management or equivalent
