Shape QTC’s relationships at the highest levels of Government

As Head of Government Relations, you will lead QTC’s government engagement strategy, strengthening key relationships across the Queensland Government and enhancing QTC’s reputation as a trusted and high-performing partner.

Partnering closely with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team, you’ll provide strategic advice, ensure senior stakeholders have a clear understanding of QTC’s role and impact, and anticipate emerging risks and opportunities - driving aligned, confident and effective advocacy and communication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a strategic advisor to the CEO, ELT and (as required) the Board on government engagement
  • Develop and lead QTC’s government stakeholder strategy, aligned to long-term priorities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Ministers, advisers and senior bureaucrats
  • Monitor and interpret policy, regulatory and political developments, providing clear advice
  • Identify issues early and lead strategic response and advocacy approaches
  • Prepare senior leaders for high-profile engagements (e.g. Estimates Hearings)
  • Oversee government-facing communications, including briefings, correspondence and messaging
  • Support the management of sensitive or high-stakes issues, protecting QTC’s reputation
  • Work across QTC to ensure consistent, accurate and timely information is provided to Government

About You

You’re a credible and influential government relations professional with strong judgement and a deep understanding of how government operates.

You’ll Bring

  • Extensive experience in government relations, policy or senior advisory roles
  • A well-established network across the Queensland Government
  • Experience working in the public sector, financial sector or similarly complex environments
  • Strong ability to influence, engage and build trust at a senior level
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complexity into clear messaging
  • A pragmatic, solutions-focused mindset with a strong governance and risk lens
  • The ability to work collaboratively across senior stakeholders to drive outcomes

Qualifications

  • University degree in a relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and experience
