About the role

Reporting to the Senior Safety Business Partner, this position partners with the operating business divisions to support all aspects of occupational, health and safety improvement initiatives and mitigate risk controls that is to a high standard of service delivery, technical capability and organisational effectiveness.

Responsibilities include

  • Implement, strengthen and monitor safety programs that strengthen risk controls to support strong safety performance.
  • Support, advise, promote, and coach teams on WesCEF safety programs.
  • Lead investigations, including high risk and significant consequence incidents, and manage associated corrective actions.
  • Undertake verification activities to support fatality prevention and injury reduction
  • Monitor leading and lagging safety indicators and proactively identify improvement opportunities.
  • Assist leaders with managing incidents in accordance with legislative and organisational reporting requirements.
  • Ensure safety compliance and governance whilst maintaining current knowledge of emerging industry, regulations and best practice developments.
  • Promote safety behaviours, service levels and interactions align with WesCEF values and reflect a high level of professionalism and customer service.
  • Contribute and support ad hoc business related tasks or projects as required.

About you

  • Formal qualification in Occupational Health and Safety with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a health and safety advisory position.
  • Experience working in heavy industry, construction, or major hazard industries.
  • Formal training in leading incidents investigations such as TapRoot, ICAM or similar.
  • Strategic mindset to deliver safety plans and operational development projects.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safety legislation, regulatory frameworks and contemporary safety management systems and practices.
  • Innovative and solutions driven whilst fostering a culture of safety, compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Experienced in building and maintaining stakeholder relationships across multiple sites, teams and functions.
  • Ability to work autonomously whilst contributing effectively within a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
  • Strong planning, organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal to convey safety concepts effectively.
  • Resilient to change in an everchanging dynamic environment.
  • This is an on-site position with the potential to support projects shutdowns and/or plant outages during ad-hoc times.
  • Travel between the Perth, Kwinana and Regional Western Australia site visits, is a requirement for this position.
