House Duty Supervisor

Melbourne Theatre Company

Melbourne Theatre Company is seeking a dedicated, people-focused House Duty Supervisor to help deliver a welcoming, safe and exceptional experience for audiences and visitors at Southbank Theatre. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a live performance environment, enjoys leading teams, and takes pride in high-quality customer service and venue operations.

While on duty you will play a hands-on role acting as House Supervisor, leading and supporting a team of casual Front of House Attendants, acting as chief fire warden and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. Reporting to the Front of House Supervisor, House Duty Supervisors are also responsible for daily reporting and documentation around staffing and events, incident and hazard reporting and essential handover information.

Working closely with Box Office, Production, Building Services, Events and external partners, you will help deliver exceptional Front of House services across MTC productions, commercial events and venue hires. You’ll bring a calm, organised approach to problem-solving, strong interpersonal skills, and the confidence to manage customer escalations, staff wellbeing and operational challenges in a fast-paced environment.

Working to a fortnightly roster, casual House Duty Supervisors work across both House Supervisor and Assistant House Supervisor shifts, where they will play a supporting on-shift role to the House Supervisor on duty, so the ability to work effectively in a team is essential.

You’ll have demonstrated experience in a complex customer service or venue environment, strong leadership and interpersonal skills, and a genuine interest in theatre and live performance. Experience in Front of House or venue operations will be highly regarded.

If you enjoy leading people, creating positive audience experiences and contributing to the work of Australia’s leading theatre company, we would love to hear from you.
