About The Role
We are seeking enthusiastic and engaging First 5 Forever Officers to help deliver one of Queensland's most important early literacy initiatives.
First 5 Forever is a statewide early literacy program delivered through public libraries, supporting families with children aged 0-5 years to develop the language, literacy, and communication skills that form the foundation for lifelong learning.
In this role, you will work closely with children, parents, carers, and community members to deliver engaging family literacy programs, build community connections, and promote the benefits of early literacy. You will also support and mentor library staff in the delivery of high-quality First 5 Forever programs across the Gold Coast Libraries network.
What You'll Be Doing
- Experience working with children aged 0-5 years and their families within an education, library, community, or early childhood setting.
- A genuine passion for early literacy, family engagement, and community connection and ability to deliver engaging programs
- A commitment to delivering outstanding customer experiences and building positive relationships.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to mentor staff delivering programs to customers.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively and independently.
- Confidence using technology and digital systems.
- The ability to meet the physical requirements of the role, including setting up programs and outreach activities, handling library resources, working at floor level with young children and families, and standing or sitting for extended periods.

Flexibility is an important requirement, including the ability to work across the wider Library Service as needed. Our library network spans multiple locations, including Southport, Broadbeach, Nerang, Helensvale, Runaway Bay, Ormeau, Upper Coomera, Burleigh Heads, Burleigh Waters, Coolangatta, Elanora, and Robina.
