Established in 1884, the St Vincent de Paul Society in South Australia (SA) is a member-based, people centred philanthropic organisation of over 2,500 members and volunteers across 61 Conferences (local networks), and 35 Vinnies shops. The principal role of the Society is to provide for and advocate on behalf of disadvantaged people in the community to promote a just and compassionate society. For over 140 years, they have been supporting the South Australian community through several initiatives and services; not only providing material goods, food, and shelter, but also providing spiritual, financial and social support.

Role Overview

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this newly created role provides executive leadership across membership, mission, community services and special works portfolios.

Key responsibilities include :-

  • Leading strategic direction, governance alignment and service innovation across Mission and Membership functions;
  • Providing executive oversight of Conference Support, member engagement and community service;
  • Driving stakeholder partnerships, advocacy initiatives and community impact outcomes;
  • Managing operational performance, compliance, financial oversight and funding opportunities;
  • Developing high-performing teams whilst fostering a values-driven organisational culture.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong strategic leadership, stakeholder engagement, financial management and community services expertise in complex multi-site environments. Proven executive leadership experience, driving organisational performance and a strong understanding of governance, risk and compliance frameworks. Experience working within membership-based, community-focused, faith-based or not-for-profit organisations will be highly regarded. Exceptional communication, relationship-building and people leadership capabilities are essential, along with a commitment to organisational values and mission-driven service delivery.
