The Senior Costing Manager provides technical and specialist advice to develop and maintain activity based costing methodologies, standards and best practice models for NSW Health.
The Senior Statutory Costing and Data Assurance Manager supports the accurate clinical costing of NSW Health Services by providing technical and specialist advice to develop and maintain activity based costing methodologies, standards and best practice models for NSW.
The role co-ordinates the processing and submission of NSW mandatory cost data requirements to external Commonwealth entities.

What you’ll be doing
- Undertake and manage complex cost data reporting, validation and submission processes, including internal to NSW Health and externally to Commonwealth entities. This includes generating narrative on year on year movements and responding to feedback from external entities.
- Work closely with the Commonwealth and other key external stakeholders to clarify data request specifications for reporting requirements and support accurate interpretation of externally reported costing data. Advising Executive on impacts of external reporting requirements and facilitate cost data collection methodologies to ensure NSW is in line with mandatory reporting specifications.
- Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the delivery of accurate and timely reporting of cost data.
- Provide leadership and direction to staff in effectively managing operational issues to ensure continuous effective service delivery and a performance based, innovative, responsive, and accountable customer focused work culture. Effectively communicate complex and technical information on activity-based costing, activity-based funding and activity-based management concepts and approaches to staff at varying levels across the health system.
About you
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:
- Tertiary qualification in Information Technology or other relevant fields such as computer science; with strong analytical and database modelling skills including advanced experience in the use of MS Excel, MS Access, SQL, SSIS, R, VBA and Python.
- Demonstrated knowledge of health data systems used in NSW, with particular understanding of those related to patient care, finance and costing (PPM), including the ability to analyse complex data to guide senior management decision making.
- Demonstrated understanding of activity-based costing and demonstrated experience in the ability to resolve technical issues and satisfy complex external reporting requirements
