Sandfire Resources has entered an exciting partnership with Havilah Resources to advance the Kalkaroo Copper-Gold Project in South Australia. An opportunity exists for an experienced Program Manager to join the team in the role of Manager, Major Projects Technology, reporting to the Global Head of Technology. This is a dual-faceted role that covers the development and delivery of the technology blueprint for a greenfield copper mine.

This role is responsible for developing the technology blueprint for the Kalkaroo project, with the support of the current technology team, the project team, and Sandfire’s strategic vendors.

The Manager Major Projects – Technology will take on the overall responsibility for delivering the Technology Portfolio for the project, ensuring all IT and OT-related workstreams are effectively planned, coordinated, governed, and transitioned into operations.

The role acts as a central coordination function across technology, project teams, operations, project delivery partners, and other external vendors.

About The Role

Duties / Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the technology requirements of the project team throughout the pre-feasibility phase.
  • With the assistance of the relevant SMEs, develop the blueprint for Sandfire’s new copper mine and processing plant.
  • Using the blueprint, create the high-level design and costing required for final investment decision.
  • Establish and manage the team responsible for the delivery of the technology portfolio.
  • Identify, engage, and manage vendors required to deliver the portfolio.
  • Coordinate IT and technology workstreams within Sandfire’s broader capital project program and stage-gate framework.
  • Develop and maintain the integrated IT delivery plan including milestones, dependencies, risks, and critical path
  • Prepare and maintain IT program governance artefacts including, weekly and monthly status reports, risk and issue registers, action tracking and decision logs, and project review materials.
  • Ensure IT activities align to Sandfire’s project governance, change control, and assurance processes.
  • Act as the coordination point between Sandfire Technology, the project team, project delivery partners, systems integrators, and specialist vendors.
  • Facilitate Technology working groups, vendor coordination forums, and technology readiness.
  • Support the identification and management of technology and cybersecurity risks associated with the project delivery.
  • Track and coordinate remediation actions arising from cyber assessments, penetration testing, or assurance findings.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in information technology, computer science or related discipline.
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience with IT and OT environments, site networks, communications, and mining systems.
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience with cybersecurity requirements in mining and operational environments.
  • Understanding of project controls, schedules, dependencies, and governance in complex delivery environments.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating IT or technology delivery within large capital projects in the mining and resources industries.
  • Experience supporting site mobilisations and the commissioning of greenfield mining and/or resources deployments.
  • Experience working with major project delivery models and multiple third-party vendors.
