The opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and culturally grounded leader for the role of Manager, Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). Reporting to the Deputy Director, Indigenous Science and Engagement, this role will lead CSIRO’s RAP and work closely with Indigenous communities, stakeholders, Enterprise Units and Research Units across CSIRO to deliver RAP objectives.
You will provide strategic leadership to advance reconciliation at CSIRO by leading RAP development and implementation, strengthening cultural capability, and building respectful partnerships with Indigenous communities and stakeholders. Leading a small team, you will support activities including cultural advice and protocols, community sponsorships, NAIDOC and National Reconciliation Week activations, procurement policy implementation, and support for key Indigenous governance committees.
Your high-level duties will include
- Lead the implementation and future development of CSIRO’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
- Develop and lead key Indigenous policies, procedures and strategies that support RAP objectives.
- Lead RAP delivery and impact, including implementation planning, monitoring and reporting to senior leaders and governance groups.
- Lead a small team and build capability across CSIRO to deliver RAP commitments, cultural advice and stakeholder engagement.
Role particulars
Location and office arrangements: Open to all capital cities, other locations may be considered. Hybrid working available and flexible work options available.
Salary: AU$135,571 to AU$158,863 per annum (pro-rata for part-time), plus up to 15.4% superannuation.
Tenure and work schedule: Indefinite, full-time. We will explore options for part-time, job-share and flexible work arrangements based on the needs of the role and individual circumstances.

Essential Criteria Snapshot
- High level cultural capability, grounded in Indigenous ways of knowing, being and doing, and developed from lived experience as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing Reconciliation Action Plan principles and practice in a large and complex organisation.
- Strong leadership capability, including experience leading effective teams, managing budgets and influencing strategy, policy and organisational outcomes.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and representation skills, with credibility across Indigenous communities, leaders and external partners.
