Interior Designer

Studio Nine Architects

Remote

We are looking for an Interior Designer with 3+ years' experience to join our Adelaide studio.

This role is suited to a designer who is building confidence in their craft and looking to continue learning alongside an experienced and supportive team.

Working across a diverse range of projects and sectors, you will contribute to design development, documentation and construction phases — balancing client needs, functional requirements, commercial realities and design intent.

We're looking for someone who is curious, engaged, and proactive — someone who seeks to understand what matters, communicates clearly, applies thoughtful design thinking, and takes ownership of their work.

You'll be part of a people-first studio culture where initiative is encouraged, ideas are shared openly and continuous learning is valued. You'll have the opportunity to develop your skills, work alongside experienced mentors, and contribute to projects that create a positive difference.

You will have

  • 3+ years’ experience in an architecture or interior design studio
  • Bachelor of Interior Design, Interior Architecture or equivalent
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD, with strong documentation capability
  • Experience preparing FF&E packages and schedules
  • Experience contributing to projects from design development through to construction
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, proactive mindset
  • Ability to manage day-to-day project responsibilities and work independently
  • Working knowledge of the National Construction Code and relevant Australian Standards
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Exposure to contract administration and construction phase project delivery

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and delivery of thoughtful, practical, and distinctive interior environments
  • Contribute to projects from design development through to construction
  • Produce clear, coordinated and accurate documentation packages, including schedules and specifications.
  • Collaborate with project teams, suppliers, and consultants, to support successful project outcomes
  • Assist with FF&E selection and documentation
  • Support construction phase activities and contract administration processes
  • Maintain a strong focus on design quality, technical resolution and attention to detail
  • Take ownership of assigned tasks and contribute positively to project delivery and studio culture

What S9 Offers

  • The opportunity to work within a progressive and growing design studio, with a broad portfolio of projects across multiple sectors
  • Career development opportunities including an internal mentor program, professional development allowance and regular in-house learning sessions
  • Competitive salary with regular and structured reviews
  • Commitment to wellbeing, with support from our Organisational Psychologist and access to an Employee Assistance Program
  • A clear commitment to environmental, social, and cultural responsibility — through our Sustainability Committee, Reconciliation Action Plan Committee and a volunteering program that provides work-time volunteer hours
  • Active industry partnerships, with the opportunity to attend industry events and become involved in industry bodies
  • Opportunity for flexible working arrangements
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • Open-plan studio environment located just outside of the Adelaide CBD
