Project Engineer - Road Safety

The Opportunity

Safe System Solutions is a specialist road safety consultancy and we are expanding our Queensland presence. We are looking for a motivated and passionate Project Engineer to join our Brisbane team.

This is a role for someone 2 to 5 years into their career who is ready to take on genuine responsibility alongside experienced industry leaders and a collaborative team. You will be someone that wants to make a real difference to road safety outcomes and is looking to grow in an environment where your contribution is visible and your development is taken seriously.

At Safe System Solutions, you will attend client meetings from the outset and conduct regular site inspections as part of project delivery. We are actively working on some of Queensland's most significant transport infrastructure programs, including the Bruce Highway Targeted Safety Program. Working within a small specialist team means this kind of exposure is part of everyday project work.

Key Responsibilities

You’ll support the delivery of road safety projects from concept through to completion and contribute to the following tasks:

• Engineering assessments: Road Safety Audits, Safe System Assessments, speed limit reviews and roadside risk assessments
• Data and context analysis: crash data analysis, Network Safety Plans, Movement and Place assessments and GIS mapping
• Report writing and design reviews: technical reports and contributions to design reviews and Safe System recommendations
• Site inspections: regular field work across a variety of road environments and project types

About You

You’ll bring a strong foundation in road safety, along with:

• 2 - 5 years relevant experience in traffic and transport engineering
• Exposure to Safe System Assessments (highly desirable)
• Experience with undertaking Road Safety Audits
• Strong technical writing skills and a commitment to accuracy
• Able to manage multiple projects and engage confidently with clients and stakeholders
• A proactive, team-oriented approach

Road Safety Auditor registration in Queensland will be viewed favourably but we will provide support towards your registration and further career growth within an expanding office.
