Role Overview
- Work in close partnership with the Regional Manager to provide leadership, practice development and mentoring sessions to a team of Peer Support staff, Support Coordinators & Therapeutic Support Clinicians.
- Provide instructions, guidance support and actively work with the team to improve identified skill areas.
- Administrative functions that support service delivery.
- Monitor and review the systems and processes used in Client Services. The collected information is used to analyse service delivery outcomes and to enhance the effectiveness of support for people living with mental illness.
- Work collaboratively with key stakeholders, including people with lived experience and participants to continuously improve the service.
- Where required, provide direct support to people visiting Service (e.g. use personal lived experience of mental health recovery to connect with guests and provide support of evidence-based strategies underpinned by recovery orientated principles to provide assistance to individuals whose psychosocial functioning is significantly affected by mental illness. This may be in partnership with their family and carers where appropriate).
Requirements
- Minimum of a Cert IV in a Community/Human service related discipline (ideally a completed Diploma or Degree). Cert IV in Mental Health Peer Work.
- Willingness to undertake other training (Intentional Peer Support (IPS) Core Training, Roses in the Ocean training programs, Safe Side training, etc)
- Ideally 1 years’ experience in leading and managing a team, or significant experience as a Senior Support Worker
- Personal lived experience of mental illness and recovery and proactivity in managing wellbeing
- Experience and skills in working with people experiencing mental illness
- Ability to think and act calmly and deal sensitively with distressed people
- Demonstrate effective listening, communication skills, empathy; and the capacity to relate with others with dignity and respect
- Ability to help participants link in with other relevant community resources and to promote the rights, responsibilities and recovery of program participants
- Ability to implement and facilitate planned activities resulting in greater community access and support
- Proficiency in use of computer and Microsoft office
- Demonstrated ability to work with families, carers, government agencies and community services
- Current driver's licence
- Must be eligible to apply/currently hold a WWVP
- Must hold/be willing to apply for NDIS worker screening clearance
