We are seeking a dedicated and thorough cleaner to supervise and lead the Rural City of Wangaratta public facilities cleaning team. The ideal candidate will have great communication skills with staff and the community and be actively involved in delivering daily cleaning of public toilets and amenities. You will set high standards, support your team, and ensure our public spaces remain clean, safe and ready for use.
This is a leadership role with real impact. Your work helps shape the experience of residents, visitors and community groups who rely on our facilities every day.
What You’ll Do
- Lead, support and train a committed cleaning team including weekend and relief staff
- Deliver and oversee daily cleaning of public toilets and facilities
- Ensure all public spaces meet high cleanliness and presentation standards
- Coordinate facility access and stay across community bookings
- Identify maintenance issues early, report them promptly and complete minor repairs on the spot
- Operate cleaning equipment safely and efficiently
- Manage stock levels and ensure supplies are always available
- Maintain accurate records including timesheets, inspections and daily logs
What You Bring
- Strong experience in public or commercial cleaning
- A leadership style that motivates, supports and brings out the best in your team
- Excellent communication skills with both staff and community members
- Confidence managing rosters, schedules and day-to-day operations
- Initiative and independence to identify what needs doing and take action
- Basic computer skills and solid record-keeping habits
- A valid Driver’s Licence (essential)
- First Aid Certificate (preferred)
