Each season we welcome several recent graduates or students completing a college degree to the Perth Heat family. They form an integral part of our front office and are impactful contributors to the club’s success both on and off the field. For the upcoming 2026/27 ABL season, we are looking for an intern to play a vital role in our e-commerce and baseball operations team.

The internship is responsible for overseeing and executing the club’s merchandise and online retail operations, as well as assisting the baseball operations team with initiatives that drive fan engagement and revenue growth. The position requires experience with online store management, retail expertise, collaborative ideation for new products and an understanding of consumer purchasing habits. Beyond the work, this is an opportunity for a successful candidate to broaden their global perspective, immerse themselves in a sporting culture and develop meaningful connections across the professional sports network.

The Perth Heat compete in the Australian Baseball League (ABL), Australia’s premier professional baseball competition featuring domestic and international talent, including current and former MLB, MiLB, NCAA, and national team athletes.

Based in Perth, Western Australia, the Heat are one of the most successful and respected franchises in Australian baseball history, representing a state with a deep and passionate baseball culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the entire merchandise life cycle, including stock management ordering and display planning
  • Manage and update the club’s e-commerce platform, ensuring accurate product listings, pricing and availability
  • Coordinate and execute game day retail operations, including merchandise store set-up, point-of-sale systems and staffing support
  • Monitor sales performance and provide insights to optimise product mix and pricing strategies
  • Assist in the development and execution of marketing campaigns to promote merchandise and drive online sales
  • Collaborate with designers and suppliers on new product development and seasonal merchandise drops
  • Support fulfilment processes including order packing, shipping coordination, and customer service enquiries
  • Assist with digital marketing efforts, including email campaigns, social media promotions and website updates
  • Provide on-ground operational support to the Game Day Manager and Operations Coordinator throughout the season

What You Will Bring to the Role

  • Completed or currently studying business, retail management, sports business or a related field
  • Favourable to have experience managing e-commerce platforms, an online sales history or app development
  • High level of organisation with the ability to manage inventory and multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Experience utilising Square, Shippo and/or Mailchimp will be looked at favourably
  • Experience in retail, customer service, or event merchandising is highly regarded
  • Availability to work game days, evenings, and weekends throughout the ABL season

  • Please note: Flights, accommodation, visas, and general living expenses are not included as part of this role and will be organised independently by the successful applicant. However, the organisation will work with the successful applicant to secure housing to help make spending a summer in Australia working within professional baseball both realistic and sustainable.

Season & Commitment

The Australian Baseball League season runs across the Australian summer (approximately November 2026 – January 2027), with pre-season onboarding occurring beforehand.

All Perth Heat home games are played across Thursday to Sunday throughout the season.

Applicants should be available for the entire season and comfortable relocating to Perth, Western Australia for the duration of the role.
