The Role

We are seeking a highly organised and process driven Royalty Coordinator to support royalty operations across Australia and New Zealand, with primary responsibility for managing the end-to-end royalty process for Universal Music New Zealand (UMNZ).

This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate accounting, timely payments, system integrity, and high quality stakeholder support. Working closely with Business Affairs, artists, managers, and internal teams, you will provide guidance on royalty processes, contract interpretation, and system requirements, while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the ANZ business.

This is a 12-month parental leave contract position

What You’ll Do

Royalty Operations

  • Support royalty operations across Australia and New Zealand, including team inbox management, workflow tools, Zendesk requests, and issue resolution.
  • Own the end-to-end royalty process for New Zealand, including sales processing, reconciliations, statement preparation, and payment processing.
  • Act as a key point of contact for royalty-related enquiries from Business Affairs, artists, management, and internal stakeholders.
  • Assist with the preparation and collation of information required for royalty audits.

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Maintain royalty systems and ensure data integrity across ANZ, including Carlos, GRP, and related platforms.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert for key royalty systems, providing guidance on processes, system requirements, and issue resolution.
  • Support royalty-related projects, including system enhancements, process improvements, and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, controls, and reporting across royalty operations.

Contract & Technical Expertise

  • Interpret recording and licensing agreements, including extracting and applying key financial and commercial terms.
  • Review royalty accounting clauses and repertoire rights to ensure accurate royalty calculations and reporting.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior team members.

About you

Industry & Business Knowledge

  • Sound understanding of the recorded music industry, including copyright protection and repertoire ownership, is preferred but not essential.
  • Ability to balance operational excellence with commercial objectives and reporting deadlines.

Technical Skills

  • + 3-5 years’ experience working in a process-driven finance, royalties, rights management, or related operational role
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Word skills, with strong analytical and problem-solving capability
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret complex recording and licensing agreements.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage high-volume, detailed workflows while maintaining accuracy.
