Your new role

We have an opportunity for an individual to join our External Oversight team as Senior Compliance Officer on a full-time, ongoing basis. Reporting to the Managing Principal Officer, the role will ensure IBAC meets each of its compliance obligations in accordance with its legislative requirements, including the timely, efficient, and effective conduct of reviews and inspections, analysis of data and other information and production of compliance reports.

Duties include:

  • Manage and lead complex inspections and reviews of Victoria Police arising under relevant legislation, from planning through to execution and reporting, including supervising and directing compliance officers throughout all stages of the work.
  • Develop and maintain the External Oversight Unit's framework, business plan and schedule to deliver on IBAC's external oversight statutory obligations.
  • Develop and maintain the External Oversight manual, procedures and systems that govern each of IBAC's External Oversight functions.
  • Identify, propose and implement solutions for continuous improvement of the External Oversight Unit's activities.

Our requirements / Your skill set

We are looking for candidates with the below experience and capabilities:

  • Understanding, or the ability to quickly gain an understanding of IBAC's external oversight functions under the relevant legislation. police oversight functions and Victoria Police's compliance obligations pursuant to relevant legislation.
  • Knowledge and experience in complex compliance, auditing and/or inspection methods and practices, including analysing large amounts of data and compiling high quality reports.
  • A tertiary or other qualification which satisfies eligibility criteria for either CPA Australia or the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand or Institute of Internal Auditors or equivalent professional body, is required.

Due to the requirement to attain a Negative Vetting 1 security clearance candidates must be an Australian citizen at the time of application.
