Your Opportunity

We have an opportunity in a newly shaped Strategic Asset Planning Engineer role in our Infrastructure Planning & Delivery group.

This role sits in our Integrated Planning team, who are essential in shaping the vision and objectives of our policies and servicing strategies. The team is responsible for building, adapting, and implementing plans for catchments, water supply zones, and data systems to define performance targets, establish investment pathways, and develop Strategic Business Cases - all driving an affordable, sustainable, and deliverable portfolio to achieve key objectives.

Reporting to the Leader Strategic Asset Planning, the Strategic Asset Planning Engineer supports the development of strategic asset management plans that ensure delivery against servicing strategy, realise value generation and enhance liveability markers for our communities.

The Strategic Asset Planner Engineer contributes to the delivery of Strategic Asset Class Plans (metro and regional), the 10-30-year asset specific baseline renewals program and strategic initiatives aligned with broader asset management objectives to inform the capital and operating investment forecasts.

Some of your accountabilities will include:

  • Contributes to the delivery of the whole of service territory context with Integrated Planning team to set out the asset strategic plan design and architecture to support our servicing strategy.
  • Help build strategic asset class plans that aim to adapt and validate policy, servicing strategy and actual performance informing how our assets are organised and prioritises integrated plans to develop investment pathways.
  • Supports the development of baseline total cost of ownership understanding for water and wastewater assets across the Urban Utilities service territory. Supports development of facility and equipment lifecycle strategies and plans to enable development of asset specific 30-year lifecycle plans.
  • Monitors the external environment to gather intelligence on emerging technologies. Assesses and documents the impacts, threats and opportunities to the organisation.
  • Contribute to stakeholder engagement through identifying stakeholders, finding out their needs/issues/concern and working through these problems and opportunities in partnership.

About You

We are seeking candidates who are passionate about shaping our future and, ideally, have the following qualifications, skills and experiences:

  • You have a growth mindset and are highly collaborative. You will pro-actively engage with stakeholders to align objectives and deliver customer and community focussed outcomes.
  • Relevant general work experience in the water, energy, resources, or industrial sectors, performing integrated planning work.
  • Experience in managing complex and diverse strategic asset management planning programs within budget and on time whilst maintain an excellent customer service and commercial focused approach.
  • Education in Engineering, Infrastructure Management, Planning, Science or a couple of years of relevant work experience.
