In this role, you'll be:

Working within our Fleet Maintenance Team at Sydney Trains, the Rail Maintainer will take responsibility to carry out Customer Service tasks.

You will provide assistance as required to maintenance staff with inspection, maintenance, functional testing, repair, and component changes to mechanical/pneumatic and electrical systems, equipment, fittings and components on diesel fleet passenger trains to contribute to the reliability and availability levels for Sydney Trains passenger fleet.

The role requires a current NSW Driver’s Licence, and it is desirable for candidates to hold a SafeWork NSW High Risk Work Forklift licence.

About You

The Rail Maintainer focuses on assisting in the repair of defective trains in the maintenance centres to allow trains to remain in or return to service.

Working across all nontrade and customer service tasks to facilitate the effective and efficient completion of the work. Work is undertaken individually or as part of a team, demonstrating capacity for the self-directed application of basic theoretical knowledge and skill, performing routine tasks under close or general supervision.

You are responsible for the quality of all work performed and the completion of quality systems documentation and/or electronic data collection.

You will undergo training in specific Customer Service tasks such as under carriage grease cleaning, painting, graffiti removal, fitting of decals, replacement of seats and windows. All work is to be carried out with personal Safety and the immediate safety of others as the highest priority.
