About the role
As the Senior Clinical Psychologist – Education and Innovation, you will provide expert clinical and professional leadership across Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) within Hunter New England LHD. Working across multidisciplinary teams, you will lead quality improvement, research, service development, and education initiatives that strengthen evidence-based practice and enhance service delivery.
While maintaining a small clinical caseload, you will provide high-quality psychological assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for children, adolescents, and their families. You will also deliver supervision, consultation, and mentoring to clinicians, supporting workforce development and fostering innovation in assessment and therapeutic interventions.
This district-wide role involves collaboration with CAMHS teams across Hunter New England LHD, with occasional travel required. The position reports to the CAMHS Service Manager and is supported by the Head of Psychology, Clinical Director, Service Manager, Senior CAMHS clinicians, and Senior Psychologists within Paediatric Services. Training and professional development opportunities will be provided to support delivery of educational programs and ongoing capability development.

About you
You are an experienced clinical leader who is passionate about advancing evidence-based practice, education, and service improvement. You will bring:
- Experience leading quality improvement, education, or research initiatives within mental health services.
- Strong supervision and mentoring skills, with experience supporting early-career clinicians.
- A commitment to developing and evaluating training and education programs.
- Excellent collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills.
- The initiative to drive innovation while contributing positively within a multidisciplinary team.
Requirements
- Completion of an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council accredited postgraduate clinical psychology qualification of no less than two years full time duration or recognised equivalent, displayed on the Psychology Board of Australia website.
- Eligibility to drive in NSW and willingness to travel for work purposes.
- Extensive experience or demonstrated ability to work with acute mental distress in child and youth community mental health settings.

- To be eligible for employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport, or hold an appropriate visa that allows you to live and work in Australia. - Generally registered as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia with an area of practice endorsement in clinical psychology, and with higher level knowledge and experience in a specific area that is manifested in higher levels of competence, initiative, innovation, responsibility, and the development and extension of applications of assessment and treatment methods.
- Experience in clinical leadership and provision of education, where you have been able to demonstrate your ability to influence and facilitate change.
- Extensive experience in mental health assessment, intervention, and evaluation of clinical outcomes. This includes demonstrated ability to implement complex treatment plans for vulnerable children and young people with comorbid presentations and during acute phases of care.
