About AIM Defence
AIM builds high-power lasers that protect people from weaponised drones.
We are an engineering-led, focused, and disciplined team working on complex hardware systems that move from design to deployment. Our work spans optics, mechanical systems, electronics, software, integration, and manufacturing. Every role contributes directly to the performance and reliability of the systems we build.
This is hands‑on work, producing real hardware.
The role
We are seeking a CNC Machinist to produce high-precision components used in complex optical and mechanical systems.
You will work closely with engineers, technicians, and other team members to manufacture parts to specification, maintain quality standards, and support fast-moving development and production timelines. This role suits someone with strong machining fundamentals, experienced in a workshop environment, and has a practical approach to solving manufacturing problems.
What you will do
- Produce parts for complex optical and mechanical systems.
- Operate manual and CNC mills and lathes.
- Work closely with team members and engineers to ensure components are delivered to standard and on time.
- Interpret engineering drawings and CAD data.
- Create and modify CAM programs for CNC machining operations.
- Inspect finished parts using metrology equipment to confirm conformance with tolerances and standards.
- Support safe, orderly, and efficient workshop operations.
