Role
The Graduate and Emerging Teacher mentor is responsible for building the instructional capacity of early career teachers, graduate teachers and Permission to Teach (PTT) staff within Wodonga Middle Years College.
The role focuses on instructional coaching, classroom observation, feedback, and professional learning to strengthen teaching practice and improve student outcomes. The position works under the direction of the Assistant Principal ¿ Teaching and Learning and aligns with the College¿s Annual Implementation Plan and Strategic Plan priorities
Responsibilities
Instructional Coaching
- Provide structured mentoring and coaching to graduate and PTT teachers.
- Develop and implement individual coaching and development plans.
- Support teachers to align practice with the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model (VTLM) and school instructional model.
Classroom Observation & Feedback
- Conduct scheduled and informal classroom observations.
- Provide clear, timely and actionable feedback based on evidence of practice.
- Support teachers to reflect on practice using the AITSL standards and school improvement priorities.
Curriculum & Planning Support
- Support teachers in curriculum planning aligned to the Victorian Curriculum 2.0
- Assist with development of high-quality unit and lesson plans.
- Support assessment design, moderation processes, and use of formative assessment practices.
- Guide effective differentiation to support diverse learners in Years 7¿9. Professional Learning & Induction
- Contribute to induction programs for graduate and PTT teachers.
- Facilitate professional learning sessions aligned to school priorities.
- Support provisionally registered teachers in meeting VIT requirements.
- Maintain documentation relevant to graduate teacher progression processes.
- Supports PTT teachers with their GTPA final assessment. Data & Improvement
- Support teachers to analyse student achievement and engagement data.
- Assist staff to implement strategies that respond to student learning needs.
- Contribute to school improvement initiatives related to teaching and learning. Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with Learning Area Leaders and Engagement and Wellbeing teams.
- Provide regular updates to the Assistant Principal ¿ Teaching and Learning.
- Contribute to a culture of reflective practice and continuous improvement.

Wodonga Middle Years College caters for 1,000 students in Years 7 to 9 on three campuses.

- Middle Years programs are not restricted by timetable constraints of senior campus requirements.
