We are currently looking for a full-time Bar Manager to join our team at Ritz Cinemas in Randwick.
Why Join Us?
The Ritz, built in 1937 and located in the heart of Randwick, is one of Sydney’s beloved landmark cinemas. We’re one of only two original Art Deco cinemas remaining in Sydney and are known for showcasing the best in Arthouse, Retrospect and Film Festival Cinema. You’ll be joining an organisation that prides itself on being family-owned and independent, while still offering the lowest price movie tickets around. We love good food, good beer, good times and bringing great films to our community! Oh, and did we mention the perks? That’s right, cheap movie tickets and snacks on us!
The Role
You’ll be stepping into a key leadership position, working closely with the General Manager to shape, lead and elevate our food & beverage (F&B) experience. Our bar concept is already something special, but we’re looking for someone who can bring their own style, energy and ideas to take it even further. You’ll split your time between running the bar, leading cinema shifts, developing the team, and driving F&B performance.
You’ll be
- The ultimate F&B champion and sales driver
- A hands-on leader who isn’t afraid to jump behind the bar
- A coach and mentor to the team
- A problem-solver and decision-maker on shift
- A key player in ensuring the venue runs smoothly, efficiently, and with personality
Your Responsibilities
- Supporting the General Manager in the day-to-day running of the venue
- Acting as Manager-on-Duty when required
- Owning bar operations, including service, presentation, and experience
- Driving sales performance and spend per head growth
- Coaching and developing the team by identifying talent and lifting capability
- Keeping your finger on the pulse of industry trends and bringing fresh ideas
- Ensuring RSA compliance and a safe, welcoming environment
The details
This is a full-time hospitality role.
Typical shifts:
- Mostly afternoon/evening (approx. 4pm – 12am)
- Some 3pm – 11pm shifts and occasional day shifts
- Weekend and public holiday availability required
And importantly: Nothing past midnight. (Yes, really.)
What You Bring…
We’re always looking for fresh ideas and perspectives so even if you haven’t worked in cinema before or don’t tick all the boxes we’d still love to hear from you!
You’ll ideally bring:
- Experience in a cinema, bar, hospitality, or venue leadership role
- Confidence running a busy service and leading teams on shift
- A strong sense of customer experience and attention to detail
- A natural ability to lead, influence and communicate
- Commercial awareness with an understanding of how to drive sales and manage costs
- Curiosity and enthusiasm for F&B trends and innovation
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities
- A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
- Solid Microsoft Office skills (Excel helps a lot here)
Bonus points for:
- Prior Assistant Manager or Supervisor experience
- A love of cinema, culture, and storytelling
