As Budget Direct's next Content Editor for Motor, you'll be the voice that cuts through the noise. In a hybrid "player-coach" role you'll write and refine high-impact copy that guides customers to the right car, motorcycle and roadside assistance decisions with genuine confidence.
You'll sit at the operational core, transforming SEO-driven briefs and LLM insights into crisp, engaging, trustworthy guides that live and breathe our brand promise while nailing regulatory standards and risk frameworks. So every customer feels informed, protected, and empowered.
Key Responsibilities
- Assign, edit and produce articles, video scripts, social copy and brochureware for Budget Direct’s Motor portfolio, including Car Insurance, Motorcycle Insurance, and Roadside Assistance products.
- Manage and plan the content lifecycle, overseeing the editorial process from ideation to planning and publishing, while triaging requests.
- Translate data-led briefs from SEO & LLM teams into compelling, human-centric content, optimising for search architecture and LLM retrieval.
- Write and edit creative, engaging content that informs and entertains readers while adhering to strict editorial standards.
- Act as a final quality checkpoint, ensuring all content is accurate, aligns with brand voice, and complies with legal, PDS and ethical generative AI usage
- Manage the Motor content portfolio workflow, triaging requests and overseeing content creation and ethical Generative AI use.
- Manage and coach a writer for the Motor portfolio, elevating their copy, developing their writing and interviewing skills, and ensuring they hit deadlines.
- Collaborate with Product, Brand, Legal, and Compliance teams for content approval and ensure regulatory standards are met.
- Monitor post-publication performance data and collaborate on optimisations for improved conversion and engagement.
- Rapidly acquire and maintain deep technical knowledge of relevant insurance products.
What Experience You'll Bring
- 5+ years in content marketing, journalism, or copywriting (2+ years editorial/senior writer).
- Strong multimedia portfolio with experience in diverse formats (video scripts, social, web copy).
- Experience adding the creative spark that brings copy to life and helps a story stand out in a sea of content.
- Proficiency with Generative AI tools and prompt engineering.
- Experience with enterprise workflow tools (Jira, Asana) and CMS.
- Solid understanding of on-page SEO and LLM optimisation principles.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and negotiation skills (especially with Legal/Product).
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and apply a strategic mindset.
- Degree qualified or similar.
- Highly Desirable: Experience in a regulated industry (Insurance/Financial Services) or broadcast journalism/video production.
