Lead Project Engineer - Renewable Energy

We are currently seeking an experienced Lead Project Engineer to join a leading resources and energy organisation delivering large-scale decarbonisation and renewable energy projects across Australia.

  • We are also open to Junior Project Engineer's if you have utility scale solar experience**

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the development and delivery of utility-scale renewable energy infrastructure, supporting projects from early-stage evaluation through to construction, commissioning, and operational handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering activities across the full project lifecycle, including feasibility, development, execution, commissioning and operations.
  • Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise in utility-scale Solar PV projects.
  • Coordinate engineering design activities and manage multidisciplinary engineering interfaces.
  • Support project cost estimates, schedules and business case development.
  • Conduct technology assessments and identify opportunities for innovation and cost optimisation.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant Australian Standards, regulatory requirements and industry best practice.
  • Support procurement activities, including development of scopes of work and technical evaluations.
  • Participate in risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Provide technical support during construction, commissioning and operational phases.
  • Engage and collaborate with internal stakeholders, consultants, contractors and equipment suppliers.
  • Mentor and support project engineers and junior engineering team members.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in Solar PV power plant engineering and design.
  • Strong understanding of solar resource assessment, plant performance modelling and generation forecasting.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering large-scale renewable energy or infrastructure projects.
  • Sound knowledge of Australian electrical and renewable energy standards.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to balance technical and business outcomes.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in fast-paced project environments with competing priorities.
