Role: Café Kitchenhand

Location: Tom Quinn Community Centre, Bundaberg

Salary: Hospitality Industry Level 1

Employment Type: Permanent Part‑time (20 hours per week)

About the role

As a Café Kitchenhand, you will play a key role in supporting daily café operations. This includes maintaining cleanliness of kitchen equipment and utensils, assisting with food preparation, managing deliveries, and ensuring all food safety and OHS requirements are met in line with TSA policies.

How you will make an impact

  • Daily kitchen operations — Complete assigned tasks efficiently, following established standards and procedures across both kitchen and dining areas.
  • Maintenance reporting — Identify and report any damages, maintenance needs, or inconsistencies promptly.
  • Food safety compliance — Store and handle food correctly to prevent contamination and maintain safety standards.
  • Volunteer support — Guide and assist volunteers in day‑to‑day café operations.
  • Stakeholder engagement — Build positive relationships that enhance the reputation of the TQ Café and The Salvation Army brand.
  • Team collaboration — Work cohesively with colleagues to ensure smooth service delivery.
  • Additional duties — Perform other tasks as required to support overall café operations.

What you will bring

  • Food hygiene/handling qualification — Certificate‑level training in food hygiene or food handling.
  • Kitchenhand experience — Previous experience in a similar role is essential.
  • Qld Driver’s Licence — Current and valid.
  • Working With Children Check — A valid Working With Children Check (Blue Card)
  • Team and independent work capability — Ability to work collaboratively or autonomously as needed.
