PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

Provide technical and strategic advice to support the ongoing development and operation of the Northern Territory’s electricity market and power

system. Lead the Market Systems specialist team, delivering engineering expertise and strategic guidance for the design, development, and

maintenance of systems and tools that support System Control and Market Operations. Ensure compliance with relevant codes, procedures,

operational plans, and reporting requirements to support the secure, reliable, and safe operation of the Northern Territory’s regulated power

systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The “WHAT” to be delivered

Leadership, Service and Project Management

• Support the management and technical development of the Market Systems Team and contribute to the development of the systems and tools

that support the electricity market reforms to provide power system security, reliability and efficiency.

  • Meet internal and external customers’ needs through the development, delivery and operationalisation of Electricity Market Systems across

the Northern Territory.

  • Ensure project deliverables are achieved on time to a high quality with a focus on providing technical engineering supervision relevant to the

Northern Territory power systems.

  • Demonstrate a constructive leadership style and maintain a strong professional relationship with internal and external stakeholders to ensure

high levels of service are maintained with a positive outcome focus.

  • Engage with external industry stakeholders appropriately to maintain effective relationships whilst managing Power and Water’s interests in

reform activities.

  • Effectively manage all resources within budget including equipment, internal personnel, contractors and vendors.
  • Drive the establishment and maintenance of policies, procedures and standards for the team and contractors to ensure the provision of

accurate, robust and practical market systems and tools.

Power System Engineering

• Provide expert electrical engineering advice to the team to guide the planning and implementation of tools and systems to support electricity

market changes and reforms including provision of design, system development and other technical activities.

  • Provide engineering mentorship to professionals to enhance System Control’s engineering capability.
