Gladstone Ports Corporation (GPC) is a Government Owned Corporation and a key contributor to Queensland’s economy. We manage and operate critical port infrastructure that supports the safe, secure, and efficient movement of goods across global markets.
We are seeking an experienced Applications Lead to join our Technology team and take ownership of the applications and platforms that support our corporate systems and modern workplace environment.
About The Role
Reporting to the Information Systems Superintendent, this is a hands-on leadership role responsible for the end-to-end management and continuous improvement of GPC’s applications and platforms, including Microsoft 365, reporting, data services and other core business systems.
You will lead a small internal team and work closely with managed service providers to deliver reliable, secure, and fit-for-purpose services. You will also partner with business stakeholders to improve user experience, reduce operational risk, and enable productivity across the organisation.
This is a critical role supporting 24/7 port operations, balancing day-to-day services performance with continuous improvement, resilience and service maturity.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coach the Applications team, building capability and reducing key person dependency
- Own end-to-end application service operations, including incident response, service restoration, and escalation management
- Provide technical leadership, including governance, optimisation and adoption, especially across our M365 environment
- Manage the application portfolio (lifecycle, integrations, risk, and cost), driving rationalisation and standardisation
- Drive continuous improvement using ITIL-aligned practices (incident, problem, change, and service management)
- Partner with business stakeholders to prioritise demand and maintain a transparent service roadmap
- Improve resilience by reducing single points of failure through documentation, monitoring, and cross-skilling
- Manage vendors and third-party providers to deliver agreed service outcomes
- Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and governance obligations

Technical Skills & Experience
- Hands-on experience supporting enterprise applications and platforms
- Application lifecycle management and portfolio rationalisation
- Experience with integrations, data flows, and enterprise environments
- ITIL-aligned service management practices
- Vendor and managed service provider management
- Experience in 24x7 operational environments (on-call or escalation roles)
Qualifications & Requirements
- Current C Class driver's licence
- Tertiary qualification in Information Technology or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Microsoft and/or ITIL certifications (desirable)
