General Manager – Cabinet Making & Joinery

If you are a Cabinet Maker who wants to take the reins of a company, but don’t want to run your own business, this is the opportunity for you!

  • Drive operational excellence and profitable growth
  • Full P&L ownership
  • Hands‑on leadership role with strong autonomy

About the Company

An established cabinet making and joinery business in North Geelong is seeking an experienced and commercially minded General Manager to lead its next phase of growth.

With a team of nine and a strong pipeline of residential, mixed‑use and commercial fit‑out work, the business partners directly with builders, landlords and owners across the region.

While part of a broader group, the business is forging its own identity and market presence. Support functions such as HR, finance and marketing are available, but the General Manager will also drive local business development and operational leadership.

About the Role

Reporting to the Group Executive, the General Manager will take full responsibility for P&L performance, business development, operations, systems, and people leadership.

You will oversee day‑to‑day production, quoting and estimating, client relationships, workflow management, and team performance. A key focus will be building strong relationships with builders, suppliers and referral partners, while ensuring the business delivers high‑quality cabinetry on time and on budget.

This is a hands‑on leadership role suited to someone who enjoys being close to the workshop, the team and the customer.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

We are seeking a leader who brings:

  • Experience in cabinet making, joinery or carpentry, with strong technical understanding
  • Proven ability to lead and engage a small team, set expectations and manage performance
  • Strength in estimating, quoting and commercial decision‑making
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with builders, suppliers and group business units
  • A track record of driving profitable growth and improving operational systems
  • Clear communication, practical problem‑solving and a collaborative leadership style

A background in small‑to‑medium manufacturing, construction trades or fit‑out environments will be highly regarded.

The Offer

  • Immediate start or as soon as available
  • Opportunity to lead a respected local business and shape its future direction
