Senior Ecologist (Spatial)
Woop Woop
We're Hiring | Senior Ecologist (Spatial)
Woop Woop + Paddock Mate | Melbourne | Hybrid | Part-time (~4 days/week), $105- $120k + super pro rata)
We help farmers, corporates and institutions integrate nature into productive landscapes - practically, credibly and commercially. Our work spans biodiversity assessments, risk and opportunity analysis, goal setting and strategy, and restoration planning and monitoring.
Woop Woop is growing fast — because the problem we're solving matters and the demand is real. We're a small, entrepreneurial team that moves quickly, works across disciplines, and isn't afraid to try new approaches to scale action for nature. Our sister company, Paddock Mate, is focused on supporting farmers to scale practical action for nature.
We're looking for a Senior Ecologist (Spatial) to join our growing team.
What the role involves
• Developing and implementing fit-for-purpose GIS systems, spatial data management processes, data management protocols and mapping workflows for a small consultancy
• Technical delivery of biodiversity and natural capital assessments
• Interpreting ecological, spatial and landscape-scale data
• Synthesising information from multiple sources into clear recommendations
• Preparing high-quality, client-ready reports and plans
• Contributing to restoration and revegetation planning, and business development
About you
• 5+ years in ecology, environmental consulting or NRM
• Postgraduate degree
• Strong understanding of ecological systems and restoration principles
• Comfortable working with spatial datasets and spatial systems, and interpreting GIS outputs
• Understand how spatial information informs ecological decision-making
• Excellent written communication and ability to work with different types of clients— you turn complexity into clarity
• Structured, proactive, and comfortable working from incomplete information
• Knowledge of nature-based frameworks (e.g. TNFD) is a bonus
We don't have a type in mind- you may be more junior and wanting to step up, or perhaps you are senior and are looking for an impact-facing job. If you enjoy turning complex ecological problems into practical action — we'd love to hear from you.
