Project Manager - Software Development

An experienced Project Manager is required to lead the delivery of a business-critical application replacement project within a large regulatory and operational environment.
Working across business and technology teams, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of a replacement solution for a key document and records management application. You will oversee project planning, governance, stakeholder engagement, risk management and delivery activities, ensuring outcomes are achieved within agreed timeframes, scope and budget.
We are specifically seeking candidates who have successfully delivered software development or application replacement projects involving regulatory, compliance, case management, records management, document management or workflow-based systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of a software development project involving the replacement of a critical business application.
- Develop and manage project plans, schedules, budgets, resources and delivery milestones.
- Coordinate internal project teams, technical specialists, business stakeholders and external vendors.
- Manage project governance, reporting, risks, issues, dependencies and change requests.
- Monitor project progress and ensure delivery activities remain aligned to agreed scope, schedule and budget.
- Prepare project status reports, steering committee papers, briefing notes and executive updates.
- Facilitate workshops and stakeholder engagement activities to support project outcomes.
- Identify and mitigate project risks and operational impacts.
- Ensure project deliverables meet business, technical, legislative and policy requirements.
- Drive collaboration between project teams and business units to support successful implementation and adoption.
Ideally you will have the following skills and experience:
- Proven experience as a Project Manager delivering application development or application replacement projects.
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements, development, testing, deployment and transition activities.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams across business and technology functions.
- Strong project governance, reporting and risk management experience.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience managing competing priorities within complex project environments.
- Proficiency with project delivery tools such as MS Project, Jira and Confluence.
The following are highly regarded
- Experience delivering document management, records management, workflow, case management or regulatory systems.
- Experience delivering projects where solutions were required to meet legislative, compliance or policy obligations.
- Experience working within government or other highly regulated environments.
- Experience managing procurement activities, vendors and third-party delivery partners.
- Prince2, MSP, Agile or equivalent project management certification.
